Frequently Asked Questions

How does this calculator work?
Enter the amount you want to invest and the calculator automatically analyzes all available products across SOFIPOs, digital banks, and IFPEs. It calculates the real yield over 365 days and ranks them by a score that considers yield (50%), liquidity (25%), conditions (15%), and deposit insurance (10%).
Why is the effective rate different from the nominal rate?
Some products offer a preferential rate only up to a certain amount. For example, Nu's Cajita Turbo gives 13% but only on the first $25,000 MXN. If you invest $50,000, the effective rate on your total drops to ~6.5% because the excess earns nothing.
What does the score mean?
The score combines four factors: yield in pesos (50% weight), immediate liquidity vs fixed term (25%), absence of conditions like minimum spending or caps (15%), and deposit insurance type (10%). A higher score indicates a better combination for your specific amount.
How are yields calculated?
For liquid savings products, daily compound interest is used: each day's yield is added to the principal and earns interest the next day for 365 days. For fixed-term products, simple interest is used: yield is calculated on the original principal without automatic reinvestment.
Is it safe to invest in SOFIPOs?
SOFIPOs are regulated by the CNBV and protected by PROSOFIPO up to 25,000 UDIS (~$221,047 MXN). Banks are protected by IPAB up to 400,000 UDIS (~$3.5M MXN). IFPEs like Mercado Pago have no deposit insurance. Always verify authorization at cnbv.gob.mx.
Where do the rates and data come from?
Rates are updated manually from each institution's official sources (websites, apps, regulatory documents). Always verify directly with the institution before investing, as rates can change without notice.
